Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be welcomed by your Usoke Explorers representative. After a brief safari orientation, you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha for relaxation and preparation for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Full Day Game Drive
After an early breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2 hours). This park is one of Tanzania’s hidden gems – small, uncrowded, and exceptionally game-rich .
Tarangire is famous for its vast herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees. During the dry season, the Tarangire River acts as a lifeline, attracting animals from miles around . Large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, and eland gather along the riverbanks, while predators such as lions and leopards patrol the area.
Your full-day game drive will explore the park’s varied habitats – from seasonal swamps to acacia woodlands. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot surrounded by the sights and sounds of the wild.

Day 3: Drive to Northern Serengeti
Today you have a long but scenic drive to the northern Serengeti (approx. 6–7 hours). You will cross the Ngorongoro Highlands and pass through the central Serengeti before arriving at your camp in the north.
The journey itself offers wildlife viewing opportunities – keep your eyes open for animals along the way. The northern Serengeti is the stage for one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles: the Mara River crossings. Between July and October, the migrating herds of wildebeest and zebra mass on the riverbanks before plunging into crocodile-infested waters .

Days 4 & 5: Northern Serengeti – Full Day Game Drives
These two full days are dedicated to exploring the northern Serengeti in search of the Great Migration. Your guide will position you at the best locations to witness the action.

After breakfast, depart the northern Serengeti and drive to the central Serengeti (Seronera Valley) . The drive itself takes you through the park, offering wildlife sightings along the way.
The central Serengeti is one of Africa’s richest predator habitats, known for its year-round wildlife and high density of big cats. The Seronera Valley is the heart of the park, where the river attracts a constant flow of animals. This region is famous for sightings of lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Check into your camp and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the area.

Day 7: Central Serengeti – Full Day Game Drive
Today is a full day of exploration in the central Serengeti. This region offers exceptional year-round game viewing, making it a favorite among safari-goers.

Leopards – Often spotted resting in the branches of sausage trees along the Seronera River

Day 8: Drive to Ngorongoro Crater – Full Day Game Drive
After an early breakfast, check out of your camp and begin the drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approx. 3–4 hours).
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest unbroken caldera, formed over 2 million years ago when a massive volcano collapsed inward. The crater floor, approximately 600 metres deep and 260 square kilometres in area, supports a self-sustaining ecosystem of over 25,000 large mammals .
What You Will See:
The Big Five – The crater is one of the best places in Africa to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and the critically endangered black rhino
Hippos – Hundreds wallow in the crater’s lakes and pools
Lake Magadi – A soda lake that attracts flamingos and other waterbirds
Lush vegetation – The crater floor is a mix of grasslands, swamps, and forests
You will descend into the crater for a full day of game viewing, with a picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool. Watch hippos wallow while you eat, surrounded by the incredible scenery.
In the late evening, ascend the crater rim and drive to Karatu for your overnight stay.

Day 9: Drive Back to Arusha – Departure
Today marks the end of your safari. After breakfast, you will discuss with your guide on what time to check out – this will depend on the schedule of your flight.
Drive back to Arusha (approx. 2–3 hours) with scenic views of the Tanzanian countryside. You will be dropped off at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, bringing your 9-day Tanzania safari to an end.
