Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Serengeti Wildlife Safari. You will be transferred to your accommodation in Arusha, where you can relax and prepare for the adventure ahead. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and rest after your international flight.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your private safari guide will collect you from your accommodation. You will drive to Tarangire National Park on a good tarmac road across gently rolling Maasai plains with scattered acacia trees. Along the way, you will pass many Maasai in their colourful traditional dress, herding cattle and going about their daily lives.

Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a lifeline, attracting wildlife from miles around. From the open roof of your safari vehicle, you will experience the park’s seasonal swamps, savannah, and riverine habitats. Expect to see zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, and giraffe. With luck, you may glimpse lions stalking prey or leopards relaxing in the trees above.

After a full day of exploration, you will return to your carefully selected accommodation for dinner and a restful night.

Day 3: Central Serengeti National Park (Seronera)

After breakfast, you will continue toward the fertile highlands where wheat and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Along the way, you will pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you may be lucky enough to see baboons, leopards, or elephants in the dense undergrowth.

You will catch a breathtaking glimpse of the Ngorongoro Crater before traveling onward to the Serengeti National Park, which you will reach by midday. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s largest park, with diverse landscapes and habitats – grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah, and mountains.

After an extensive game drive in the Seronera Valley, you will arrive at your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Northern Serengeti – Following the Migration

In the morning, you will undertake an en-route game drive to the Northern Serengeti. Stretching from Seronera for approximately 100 kilometres, the Northern Serengeti is a gentle rolling countryside broken by small rivers, occasional hills, and kopjes. Here resides a multitudinous permanent population of wildlife, with striking geological features such as the beautiful Lobo Kopje.

The Northern Serengeti is far from the park’s main entry point in the south, hence it receives fewer visitors and offers a more exclusive experience. The migration is found in this area between August and October, and with luck, you may witness the most spectacular of river crossings as the herd attempts to cross the Mara River, avoiding strong currents and hungry crocodiles.

After a full day, you will head to your accommodation where you will enjoy dinner and a night’s sleep under the magnificent African sky upon the endless plains.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti – Mara River Crossings

After an early breakfast, you will head out to make the most of the day. There is a chance you may see the animals crossing the Mara River. Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather together on the banks of the river, gazing across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side. But no animal will make a move.

All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the literal plunge – and then all follow! The animals that successfully avoid the awaiting crocodile jaws and make it across the river are rewarded with the lush green grazing grass of the Maasai Mara. This is one of nature’s most dramatic and unforgettable spectacles.

Your guide will position you at the best vantage points to witness this extraordinary event, ensuring you have the best possible experience.

Day 6: Central Serengeti

After breakfast, you will return to Seronera in the Central Serengeti, with further opportunities to experience the incredible wildlife and natural beauty of the Serengeti.

Apart from the migrating herds, you will have the opportunity to see the resident predators – leopard, cheetah, and lion – fulfilling their role in the circle of life. The Seronera Valley is one of Africa’s richest predator habitats, with year-round wildlife sightings.

After an extensive game drive, you will return to your accommodation for a hearty dinner and another night of relaxation and conversation under the sweeping majesty of the star-bright African night.

Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will embark upon another incredible game drive in the Serengeti before traveling to the Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the edge of the crater in the afternoon, you will have your first glimpse of what awaits you the following day – glistening streams, open grassland, and an infinite number of animals.

You will spend the night at a nearby accommodation on the rim of the crater, with breathtaking views over the caldera.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

Very early in the morning after breakfast, you will descend onto the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on Earth. The animals roam freely through the unfenced reserves, offering an uninterrupted game viewing experience.

The caldera was formed approximately three million years ago with the massive explosion of a volcano that rivalled Kilimanjaro in height. It is 610 metres deep and covers roughly 260 square kilometres. It is an enclosed ecosystem – the word “Ngorongoro” represents the sound of the bells that the Maasai cows wear around their necks.

It is one of the best places in Africa to view the Big Five, as well as wildebeest, gazelle, reedbuck, and many others, along with approximately 500 bird species. You will stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake. In the afternoon, you will ascend the steep road out of the crater and overnight in the nearby town of Karatu.

Day 9: Lake Manyara National Park – Return to Arusha

After breakfast, you will drive to your final safari destination – Lake Manyara National Park. This relatively small but remarkably diverse park, approximately 120 kilometres west of Arusha, is named for the shallow salt lake that covers about seventy percent of its surface area. The lake expands and contracts with the seasons and is home to thousands of flamingos, along with over 500 other bird species.

On your exploration of the park, you will encounter monkeys, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, and elephants. With some luck, you may spot lions lounging in the trees – a behavior for which Lake Manyara is famous. The park’s diverse landscapes include open grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs.

After lunch, you will head back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Onwards Travel

At the appropriate time, you will be collected from your accommodation and transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. End of services.
