Day 1: Arusha/Moshi – Shira Gate – Shira 1 Camp
Arrival on the Plateau
Your Kilimanjaro trekking adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi, followed by a 3–4 hour drive to Shira Gate on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro.
After registration and permits, you will continue by 4×4 vehicle to the starting point on the Shira Plateau. This first stage introduces climbers to the high-altitude environment while offering wide views of the plateau and surrounding landscapes.
Arrive at Shira 1 Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Across the Plateau
After breakfast, continue trekking across the scenic Shira Plateau – one of the most beautiful sections of Mount Kilimanjaro. The trail is gentle and ideal for acclimatization while offering clear views of Kibo Peak and surrounding volcanic formations.
Trekkers pass giant lobelias and senecios – unique plants found only in high-altitude ecosystems. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Climb High, Sleep Low
Your trek continues with a steady climb toward Lava Tower (4,630m) , following the important climb-high, sleep-low acclimatization strategy. The terrain becomes more alpine and dramatic, giving trekkers a true high-mountain experience.
After reaching Lava Tower, you will descend to Barranco Camp beneath the famous Barranco Wall for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
The Barranco Wall
The day begins with a climb up the Barranco Wall – one of the most exciting highlights of Kilimanjaro trekking. Although steep, the climb is non-technical and provides panoramic mountain views.
This section continues through ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp, an important acclimatization stop before the summit push.

Day 5: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Final Base Camp

This stage focuses on rest and preparation for the summit. You will receive a detailed briefing from your guide before an early dinner and rest.

Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Summit Night – The Roof of Africa
The summit attempt begins at midnight, trekking toward Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – the highest point in Africa. This is the most demanding part of the climb, requiring determination and endurance.
After reaching the summit and enjoying sunrise views over the glaciers and African plains, you will descend to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Return to Arusha/Moshi
Descent and Celebration
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, completing your Kilimanjaro trekking journey. Exit formalities and summit certificates will be issued before transfer back to Arusha or Moshi.
This marks the successful completion of your 7-day Kilimanjaro Shira Route climbing adventure.
