Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Kenya and Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Pick up from the airport or from your hotel in Nairobi marks the start of your combined Kenya and Tanzania Safari, head to Maasai Mara National Reserve via the Great Rift Valley floor with a stop at the view point to have the scenic view of the escarpments and then proceed to Narok for hot lunch and finally to your camp/lodge. Spend the rest of the day on an evening game drive tracking game, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Maasai Mara Safari

Enjoy breakfast at the camp, then set out for the morning game drive before 08:00 am till 5:00 Pm and then enjoy picnic lunch. Maasai Mara National Reserve is a unique destination in its ways, covered with savannah grasslands on rolling hills providing a scenic view. It has a good track network which allows for close proximity of wildlife and nice photography captures.

Have a visit to the Maasai Village for a deeper insight into the life of the Maasai People, their culture and traditions. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park with your packed lunch boxes. The journey takes you through the scenic Great Rift Valley, offering picturesque views of Lake Naivasha. Here, you can opt for a boat ride offering close encounter with the aquatic life and bird species.

Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park where you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Amboseli National Park

Wake up early breakfast and go for a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its variety of birds including the flamingoes. Enjoy the view of hippos, buffaloes and Nile crocodiles. Enjoy lunch en route to Amboseli National Park. Check-in at the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Full Day Amboseli National Park Safari

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, then go for an early morning game drive in Amboseli National Park and enjoy amazing game viewing especially large herds of elephants and the sight of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

Enjoy picnic lunch and continue exploring Amboseli National Park on a game drive. Other animals to lookout for include lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, gazelles, giraffes and several bird species. At sunset, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Amboseli – Namanga Border – Arusha

Have breakfast, check out of your lodge and depart for an early game drive on your way to Namanga Border, after clearing the Immigration Authorities, continue to Arusha Town with en-route lunch.

Day 7: Arusha – Serengeti National Park

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, meet your driver-guide and start your journey to Serengeti National Park with en-route lunch. On arrival in the park, you will go for a game drive as you head to your lodge in the Central Serengeti. Check in, enjoy dinner and have an overnight stay.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy early breakfast and head out with your picnic lunch boxes for a game drive in Serengeti National Park. Here, you will track the wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, lions, black rhinos, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, jackals, gazelles, olive baboons, wild dogs among others.

After enjoying a picnic lunch, embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Crater with a stopover at Olduvai Gorge where you will see the work of Dr. Leakey and his wife. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Arusha

Enjoy breakfast, then leave for a game drive within the Ngorongoro Crater where you will descend into the crater and enjoy a game drive with excellent sighting of several wildlife species including hyena, cheetah, wild dogs, Grant’s Zebras, African buffalo and hippos at the crater rim.

Enjoy picnic lunch in the crater, then ascend to the main gate, exit the crater and drive back to Arusha where you will be dropped off at the airport.

Day 10: Departure

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and be transferred to Arusha Airport for your departure flight bringing your Kenya-Tanzania Safari to an end.
